Our main concern is the welfare and needs of all the children in our care and we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  If any member of staff suspects any form of abuse has taken place then the staff member will inform the Safeguarding Officer who will contact Social Care.  The officer in charge will liaise with parents regarding any concerns if it is in the best interest of the child.  Confidentiality will be maintained throughout.  All children, whatever their age, background, religion or family circumstances, have a fundamental right to be offered care or protection by those responsible for their safety and wellbeing.  Most of the time this means parents and carers but when children attend pre-school the responsibility to safeguard and protect children becomes the role of other adults, even if only for a short time.

Our Pre-school is required by law to safeguard and protect the interests of children placed in our care. We do this by ensuring adequate staff have received training to help any child(ren) who may be unhappy or worried or who may be having difficulties at home.  As part of our Curriculum we teach children the importance of taking care of themselves and others and we make sure that children know to whom they can turn to for help and advice if for whatever reason their parents/carers are not able to help.  We encourage children and parents to talk to us or to seek help if they are worried just as we will talk to parents/carers if we are concerned about anything to do with their child.  In our Pre-school we have policies to ensure that all our Staff behave appropriately and professionally towards the children with whom they work and also so Staff know what to do if they become worried about a child.  Any parent wishing to view our Policy documents may do so at any time – they are on the windowsill in the Entrance Hall.
